Oclaro Unveils Two High-Power 980nm Pump Lasers

Oclaro, a provider of optical communications and laser solutions, announced the expansion of its pump portfolio with a new high-power 500mW uncooled 980nm pump laser and 2 x 600mW dual chip pump in a single package.

Leveraging these innovative pump lasers, customers who are looking for greener designs can benefit from reliability, smaller footprint and higher performance.

As a leading provider of diodes for industrial fiber laser solutions, Oclaro is able to leverage its world-class manufacturing operations, technology expertise and packaging technology to consistently deliver industry-leading performance, quality, brightness, and cost competiveness.

Back in May, Oclaro outlined its complete line of fiber laser solutions and announced the technology direction of future products. Read the detailed report here.

Oclaro will showcase the new pumps at the ECOC show on September 19-21, 2011, in Geneva, Switzerland.

“These new pumps build on Oclaro's heritage as a leading pump supplier and leverage more than two decades of proven design expertise in the pump industry,” said Robert Blum, director of Product Marketing for Oclaro's Photonic Components Business Unit at Oclaro, in a statement.

“Our customers are looking for greener designs that use lower power and come in smaller sizes and Oclaro is able to meet these needs while also adding more functionality and features to our pump solutions,” Blum added.

Oclaro 500mW uncooled pump laser features smaller form factor with a SFF 10-pin butterfly package, 500mW of kink-free power, lowest power consumption among others. The pump operates across the entire -5 to 75degC temperature range. It is wavelength stabilized, qualified to Telcordia (News - Alert) GR-468-CORE, and RoHS 6/6 compliant.
