Eurocom Delivers Unprecedented 4TB Storage in Mobile Server

Deploying a Western Digital (News - Alert) WD Scorpio Blue 9.5 mm, 2.5-inch mobile solid-state drive (SSD) with 1 Terabyte (TB) capacity, upgradable notebooks and mobile server manufacturer Eurocom Corp. is offering up to 4 TB storage in RAID 0/1/5/10. It will be available in the Eurocom’s third generation Panther 3.0 mobile Server.

Mobile server is a new category of notebooks tailored for professional users who need access to powerful computing while traveling. RAID, for Redundant Array of Independent Disks, is a technology that provides increased data storage abilities through redundancy.  Multiple drives are arranged in units where data are distributed across the drives in different RAID levels. Different levels of RAID correspond with varying levels of performance and redundancy. Consequently, Eurocom offers choices between RAID 0/1/5/10 in the Panther 3.0 mobile Server.

Powered by super-powerful Intel (News - Alert) 6-core XEON 5600 processor, Panther 3.0 provides server-caliber capabilities with four physical 1 TB drives with RAID 0/1/5/10 support and up to 3.46 GHz clock frequency. Plus, it offers 12 MB of L2 cache, internal battery (built-in UPS), 1 Gigabit LAN port and with an integrated 17.3-inch LCD display and keyboard.

In a statement, Mark Bialic (News - Alert), Eurocom president said, “For users looking for the utmost in mobile storage capacity, a Panther 3.0 mobile server supporting four physical hard drives, for 4 TB in RAID 0/1/5/10 is currently the best option.”

According to Eurocom, Western Digital WD Scorpio Blue 9.5 mm, 2.5-inch mobile hard drives offer several advantages over their desktop counterparts. By comparison to desktop drives, they are higher efficiency drives and smaller in size. Eurocom said that Panther 3.0 mobile server supports four storage drives to offer unmatched mobile storage capacity.
