Gluster Enters a Partnership Agreement with Redapt

Gluster, the leading provider of scale-out, open source storage solutions, recently announced in a press release that it has entered a partnership agreement with Redapt, Inc., an innovative data center architecture and infrastructure solutions provider. According to the agreement, Redapt will integrate GlusterFS technology with highly-scalable NAS storage technology for on-premise, virtual and cloud environments. Both the companies will work closely to help customers more effectively manage storage costs.

“With the dramatic rise of unstructured data, storage has quickly become a major pain point for enterprises,” said Matt Huff, vice president of business development at Redapt, in a press release. “This partnership with Gluster brings a great technology to our storage offerings and is enabling us to offer a comprehensive, cost-effective storage solution that delivers the scalability, performance and reliability that our customers need to effectively run their data centers. Our customers are already experiencing the benefits Gluster has to offer.”

“Redapt has a great track record spanning over two decades of delivering its customers with reliable, vendor-agnostic solutions that address the requirements of today's and tomorrow's data center,” said Jeff Olson, senior director of channel sales at Gluster. “Gluster is dedicated to creating storage solutions that deliver the flexibility and scalability while also keeping budgets in mind. We are pleased to be partnering with them to expand their product offerings and look forward to providing their customers with our innovative storage technology.”

Recently, Gluster released GlusterFS 3.3 beta 2, which includes compatibility for Apache Hadoop. The company said this latest enhancement to GlusterFS uses the standard file system APIs available in Hadoop to provide a new storage option for Hadoop deployments. With this new feature, GlusterFS is an open source, Posix-compliant file and object storage solution that works with Hadoop. Compatible with existing MapReduce-based applications and with the ability to co-exist with HDFS, this new functionality opens up data within Hadoop deployments to any file- or object-based application, providing a broad new range of options for big data deployments.
