Ignition Supports the Technology Leadership Forum Initiative in Bermuda

Ignition, a provider of off-shore IT services, announced that it supports the Technology Leadership Forum (TLF) efforts to encourage Bermuda's youth to show interest in information technology, the Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications and E-Commerce.

The founders of TLF include the Department of E-Commerce and a number of private sector companies. TLF was set up after recognizing the need for qualified Bermudian talent in the information communications technology field.

Ignition is part of a network of the technology industry that forms the TLF. TLF is formed to encourage dialogue, address issues, propose action steps, and to be a networking group amongst peers, company officials said.

“It's been one of the most educational and rewarding experiences in my IT career so far,” said Tilhan Chitrananda, Ignition's recent graduate of the TLF program, in a statement. “I learned so much about marketing myself as an IT professional, making improvements in the company I work for and reinforcing a positive reputation for myself and my company.”

The course provided Chitrananda with valuable opportunities, helping him broaden the understanding of the diversity of solutions available to organizations. Chitrananda received important insight on how IT works in industry and the various ways information is utilized, transferred, restricted, secured and appears while being delivered.

“Despite Bermuda not having the most real-estate for massive data centers or being the best place for inexpensive bandwidth, Bermuda in itself provides a unique, self-contained testing ground for new technology,” said Michael W. Branco, senior vice president of Ignition. “You should be the generation of Bermudian technologists implementing these technologies as early adopters.”

Recently, Ignition announced the release of Ignition Virtual Office Cloud that enables anyone with a PC, Mac or iPad and an Internet connection to access their virtual desktops. The new service runs across the company's three data centers in Bermuda, Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada and the south Caribbean and allows users to have full access to their files, which in turn are secured in one of the requested data centers.
