- Alert) Systems has claimed that a caching technology solution it recently developed had successfully helped users download Internet files ten times faster.
The solution, CacheFlow, has eased the task of downloading of rich media content like video clips and web 2.0 content.
To put it in simple terms, you can now view any video in Internet without interruption by using this solution.
“Our next-generation caching technology addresses the mounting challenges service providers face in meeting the rapidly growing demand for Web content.” said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president, Blue Coat Systems.
The vendor has even released testing tools for customers who want to evaluate whether or not the solution does increase the downloading speed.
This is certainly a good news for Internet service providers, who can now hope to satisfy their customers with faster access times and smoother, uninterrupted video. Once the customers are satisfied, they remain to be loyal to the service provider.
The vendor has cited the example of an operator in Jordan that has used the solution to increase the speed of web downloading.
The Jordanian operator, Umniah, which has over two million subscribers, has reportedly found customer complaints decrease by about 95 percent after it started using the CacheFlow appliance.
And the rural ISP, North-Eastern Pennsylvania Telephone Company, added high speed Internet access to its service offerings after deploying Blue Coat’s solution.
“With subscribers' unending appetite for Web video and limited tolerance for anything but fast, smooth playback, providers must put infrastructure in place that can't leave quality of service merely to chance,” said Brian Partridge, vice president, Yankee Group (News - Alert).
CacheFlow stores the content on the service provider's local network. That means, once downloaded from the original source, others can download the same content at lightning speed.
With this solution in place, service provider can better manage unusual or excessive traffic spikes when certain content quickly becomes popular -- for example, important breaking news or major events.
