CloudBees, a provider of Java Platform as a Service (PaaS), announced the private beta of DEV@cloud Private Edition, which is designed to enable organizations take advantage of the benefits of cloud computing in a private environment.
The new solution enables customers to better manage and more efficiently leverage their existing Jenkins infrastructure. This allows them to fully utilize resources, for example, by being able to share and quickly deploy infrastructure resources as needed throughout the organization.
“CloudBees continues to broaden the choices for customers and execute rapidly on its vision to provide the easiest to use, most flexible and cost-effective PaaS on the market, covering the complete development-to-production lifecycle for Java applications,” said Sacha Labourey, CEO and founder, CloudBees, in a statement.
“With DEV@cloud Private Edition, organizations can leverage their existing on-premise infrastructure, while taking full advantage of the benefits of cloud computing for their Continuous Integration needs,” Labourey added. “We are the only vendor providing Continuous Integration as a service, on-premise, with no need for IT or DevOps involvement.”
With DEV@cloud Private Edition, common security policies and update center policies can be centrally applied to all Jenkins servers.
Though cloud computing opens a cost-effective alternative to allocate enterprise resources online, many organizations aren't yet ready to move to the cloud.
With DEV@cloud Private Edition, companies get all the functionality of DEV@cloud, in a privately run and managed on-premise environment. The solution provides automatic provisioning of masters and build agents.
The solution ensures plugin compliance based on plugins or plugin version. It pushes Role-based Access Control (RBAC) permissions from DEV@cloud Private Edition to all masters and easily manages security permissions. The solution centralizes the management of all CI masters and builds agents.
Additionally, customers have the ability to onboard existing Jenkins masters into DEV@cloud Private Edition.
CloudBees platform is the industry’s only “develop-to-deploy” public cloud platform for Java that serves thousands of customers. It allows developers to quickly and easily develop and deploy applications in the public cloud without having to purchase, configure and maintain hardware, and without having to program applications for a specific underlying infrastructure service (IaaS).
Now, with DEV@cloud Private Edition, CloudBees brings its compelling solution to the private cloud environment, company officials said.
Back in June, CloudBees announced a for-pay offering for its RUN@cloud Java Platform as a Service. This allows developers to decide, per application, whether they'd like to utilize a free plan (with limited memory and computing resources) or benefit from increased memory, more computing capacity and/or additional features through a pay-as-you go pricing scheme.
