HP Awarded USAF Contract under Enterprise IT Purchase Program

A trusted technology partner of the US military for 60 years, HP has once again won a major contract --- this time from the U.S. Air Force (USAF). Under the contract, HP, whose product offering spans printing, personal computing, software, services and IT infrastructure, will provide new workstations and HP Compaq 6005 Business Pro PCs to the USAF. The award is a part of USAF’s enterprise IT purchase program.

The selected products, according to HP, combine high performance, energy efficiency and security features and will be used in the USAF facilities worldwide. The contract requires HP to include customized agency configurations to comply with the USAF requirements, based on strict standards and tests for memory, audio, video and other specifications.

The HP Compaq 6005 Pro Business PCs will be available in two configurations -- small form factor and microtower -- that both meet the USAF's secure product category requirements and offer secure hardware, software and firmware. Both models are EPEAT Gold registered and include energy-efficient features that conserve power, enabling PCs to last longer, HP officials revealed in a press release.

In the past five years, USAF has deployed over 900,000 units of HP products throughout the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific.  All these were the part of the USAF CCS (client, computer and servers) Quantum (News - Alert) Enterprise Buy (QEB).

Worthwhile to mention here that the Air Force Information Technology Commodity Council (AF ITCC), composed of top USAF officials, selects vendors for the QEB by evaluating the performance quality of their enterprise computing products in harsh environments. HP has consistently proven to be a "Best Value" vendor through the assessment.

We are proud of our strong performance record and look forward to providing the USAF with premier technology that aides in the management of the forces protecting our nation,” senior vice president and general manager at HP Stephen DiFranco noted in a statement.

In a separate press release, HP announced that it has earned the Excellence in Service Operations certification from the Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA) for delivering superior technical support and services in North America.
