Tasktop Enterprise Eclipse IDE Extends HP ALM, HP Quality Center Use to Mac, Linux

Tasktop Technologies announced that its Tasktop Enterprise Eclipse IDE extends the use of HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and HP Quality Center to developers working on Mac and Linux operating systems.

In a release Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project said, “For the first time developers using Linux and Mac OS desktops have the ability to access and update application defects and requirements in HP ALM and HP Quality Center. Additionally, HP Agile (News - Alert) Accelerator release plans can now be accessed directly from the developers’ IDE, with new support for developer-centric Scrum and Kanban task and story boards.”

Also, the company, the creator of the Eclipse Mylyn opens source tools and a specialist in Agile Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) developer tools and interoperability, announced more integrations with HP Agile Accelerator 5.0.

It also assured  better SCM traceability and workflow support for the new HP Application Lifecycle Intelligence (ALI) offering, and new HP Certification for its products.

It was revealed that Tasktop’s relationship with HP is trying to synergize enterprise ALM and developer tools workflow resulting in increase in productivity benefits for development teams. It also ensures a new level of traceability and reporting for development managers by offering features such as HP’s Application Lifecycle Intelligence (ALI).

Jonathan Rende, vice president and general manager of Applications, Software, HP stated, “With business processes growing in complexity, organizations require efficient ways to deliver applications and remain innovative.”

“The new integrations between HP and Tasktop provide application delivery teams with the necessary visibility across the application lifecycle to empower organizations to respond quickly to business changes and drive competitive advantage,” Rende added.

Company sources added that Tasktop Enterprise is HP Certified to complement and improve the capability of HP ALM and HP Quality Center. HP Certification refers to the fact that HP has tested Tasktop Enterprise against established criteria and has also verified its compatibility with HP Software.

Also the certification process encompasses interactive integration testing by the HP Software Certification team along with Tasktop’s development team.

Tasktop Technologies also announced the release of Tasktop Dev 2.1, the latest version of its award-winning developer tools. Tasktop Dev 2.1 builds on the recently released Eclipse Mylyn 3.6 release with several newly available and updated connectors, new developer-centric, cross-repository Kanban and story board planning, and the ability to access HP ALM and HP Quality Center from Linux and Mac desktops.
