- Alert) (PSCR) program was charted to provide manufacturers and first responders with a multi-vendor, neutral host environment for interoperability and application testing for LTE (Long-Term Evolution) technology and solutions. NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), through its PSCR program (a joint effort between NIST/OLES and NTIA/ITS), is building a 700-MHz Public Safety Broadband Demonstration Network to provide manufacturers and first responders a location for early deployment of their systems in a multi-vendor, neutral, host environment.

- Alert) Siemens Networks supposedly provided the NIST testing lab in Colorado with a 700 MHz LTE network infrastructure. Harris explained that by participating in this program the company is offering emergency responders with hands-on experience with its LTE solution, so that they can actually see how the system meets their unique and varied needs.
According to Harris, its VIDA Broadband LTE is a complete 700 MHz Broadband LTE network solution that is part of the Harris VIDA (Voice, Interoperability, Data, Access) network platform for first responder communications. The VIDA network integrates VIDA Broadband LTE with P25 (Project 25) and OpenSky communication systems, which are in use by first responders across North America.
The solution is also is designed to meet the emerging FCC (News - Alert) cyber security and critical infrastructure survivability requirements, and will fully support the evolving technical framework for the FCC's Emergency Response Interoperability Center (ERIC). It can be deployed to realize secure private and prioritized mobile broadband connectivity and a common communications environment.
Officials with the company commented that the capabilities that the Harris LTE solution brings to first responders today provide transformational enhancements to their mission critical operations.
