Birst Launches Interactive Business Intelligence for Apple's iPad

In an effort to offer software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) business intelligence to a much broader audience,  Birst, Inc., the leading provider of SaaS business intelligence (BI) and analytics, announced the availability of Birst Mobile for the Apple (News - Alert) iPad. Birst Mobile for the iPad provides secure and real-time access to highly interactive and visual SaaS BI. 

According to a press release, by taking advantage of the iPad's unique features, users can quickly flick through charts and tables, filter information of interest, and drill into more detail using what is increasingly becoming a commonplace computing device in many organizations.

"The Apple iPad is becoming the tablet of choice for business applications. Built with native iPad support, Birst Mobile for the iPad builds on this trend by providing organizations with a complete BI solution for delivering mobile analytics to their end users, quickly and cost effectively," said Stefan Schmitz, Vice President of Products at Birst, Inc.

Birst Mobile for the iPad gives users access to BI when and where they need it and does so in a way they're used to and safely.  The main features of the new capability includes Dashboard exploration via touch and gestures , secure access to any data, on-premise or cloud and access to insights when not connected.

 In other company news, TMCnet reported that Bristol-Myers Squibb Company  and Amira Pharmaceuticals, Inc.have signed a definitive agreement under which Bristol-Myers Squibb will acquire privately held Amira Pharmaceuticals, a small-molecule pharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and early development of new drugs to treat inflammatory and fibrotic diseases.
