Proofpoint Announces Q2 2011 Results

Proofpoint, Inc., a company specializing in the art and science of cloud-based email security, eDiscovery and compliance solutions, has announced its quarterly revenue reports that indicates a strong growth in the second quarter of 2011, representing Proofpoint's eighth year (32 sequential quarters) of increasing quarterly revenue.

Company officials said that the tremendous results was because of several dynamics that helped the company grow, including a renewed focus on security and threat management, competitive displacements and an increase in cloud-based deployments.

As per the report, the company has added more than one million mailboxes under protection during this in Q2 2011 alone. This was also made possible because it replaced solutions from competitors including McAfee (News - Alert) (Cipher Trust, IronMail, McAfee Email Gateway), Google (Postini) and Cisco (IronPort) with Proofpoint's email security, data loss prevention, email encryption and email archiving solutions.

Gary Steele, CEO of Proofpoint said that the recent high-profile attacks and data breaches such as those that have struck RSA (News - Alert), Epsilon, U.S. National Laboratories and the International Monetary Fund, among others, have prompted organizations in every industry to re-evaluate their current solutions with an eye toward increasing effectiveness, better securing private data and improving compliance with regulations.

The company’s flagship solutions such as Proofpoint Enterprise Privacy and Proofpoint Encryption, were one of the reasons for company’s strong growth. Q2 2011 represented a record quarter for new and add-on businesses for those solutions, which help organizations ensure the security and privacy of confidential and regulated information in email.

Also, major customers across from financial services, healthcare, energy and retail background have selected Proofpoint Enterprise Protection and Proofpoint Enterprise Privacy during the quarter, replacing solutions from competitors such as McAfee, Google and Cisco.

“Our solutions meet all of those requirements, which is why – in head-to-head evaluations against competitors – Proofpoint wins nearly 100 percent of the time,” Steele added.

The company has also earned FISMA certification from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its SaaS (News - Alert) email archiving service. That certification was issued in conjunction with the agency's cloud-based Enterprise Messaging Services (EMS) project to provide compliant email archiving for 120,000 Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange users spread throughout 21 departments.

In other news, Proofpoint, Inc. recently announced availability of Proofpoint Compliance for Microsoft Office 365, a suite of cloud-based products that provide regulatory compliance support for the Microsoft Office 365 email application. Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud-hosted application suite that is the successor to the Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS). Proofpoint Compliance for Microsoft Office 365 allows customers using Microsoft Office 365 email to comply with regulatory standards that require email encryption, email archiving, email security and data loss prevention (DLP).
