Artila Unveils Linux-based ARM9 Single Board Computer Supporting LCD Interface

Artila Electronics, a designer and manufacturer of Linux-ready ARM9 industrial PC unveiled its new ARM9 Linux-based Single Board Computer, M-505.

Artila’s new M-505 is noted to be a standard 3.5” form factor ARM9 Linux-based Single Board Computer that combines powerful computing capabilities, large memory space, and high scalability, making it easy for users to develop their application without compromising the system performance.

According to the company, the flexible and reliable design of this system leaves users worry-free when focusing on their application software development, reducing 80percent of the development time and cost normally required.

Powered by 400MHz AT91SAM9G45 Thumb Processor (News - Alert) with memory management unit, the new M-505 is equipped with 128MB SDRAM, 128MB NAND Flash, and 2MB DATAFlash. Moreover, it is said to support 1280 x 860 LCD and touch screen, and VGA output. This feature, as believed by the company, helps users to develop Linux solutions for applications where HMI (Human Machine Interface) is necessary.

M-505 can also be pre-installed with Linux 2.6.38 OS, busybox utility collection, lighttpd Web server, and various hardware device drivers. The GTK+ tool kit and qt4 embedded are also included to provide a user-friendly environment for the graphic user interface. Additionally, M-505 also provides flexibilities in peripheral expansion by integrating one 10/100Mbps Ethernet, four USB 2.0 hosts, four RS-232/485 ports, and 16 GPIOs. The GNU C/C++ cross compiler is included in the development kit, allowing users to develop their application software in PC without the need to learn and purchase extra commercial developing tool.

Artila Electronics has been focusing on ARM (News - Alert)-core RISC CPU with embedded Linux solutions. The company has been serving the industry for more than ten years with special focus in RS-232/422/485 industrial communication and TCP/IP networking. Artila’s product range consists of Serial-to-Ethernet embedded modules, ARM9/Linux box computers, and ARM9/Linux SOMs.
