Windows PC's First Major Showing to Have the Lumidigm Advantage with the New Mariner Fingerprint Reader for WindowsR-Based Applications

The reliable multispectral imaging reading accuracy of the new Mariner fingerprint reader from Lumidigm is now available to the value-based and highly popular biometrics applications based on the Windows PC. It is a device that has up to 20 percent better reliability than other more conventional sensors. With its quick and easy delivery of top-quality fingerprint for Windows OC authentication, the new Mariner sensors make it highly affordable for biometric authentication in real business applications. This includes industries like passenger ID, healthcare, construction, transportation, logistics, heavy industry and several others that involve durability and reliability.

In a release, the senior vice president of Lumidigm, Mr. Phil Scarfo, said that “With Mariner, we are able to bring the field-proven Lumidigm Advantage to more users in more markets. Disappointed in conventional fingerprint sensors to date, serious business customers have been looking for a biometric sensor that doesn't require them to compromise durability, reliability or convenience. With Mariner, we are offering extremely fast, durable and reliable business-class biometric readers for desktop user authentication and other Windows PC-based applications, even special mission-critical healthcare applications."

The multispectral imaging from the Mariner reads fingerprints of both the surface and the subsurface of hot, cold, dirty, wet and dry conditions which have traditionally impeded the biometric sensors. This is very unlike the traditional sensors which depended highly upon clean surface contact and ideal conditions. A wide range of opportunities in business is helped by the new Mariner fingerprint sensor including enterprise single sign on, electronic medical records, multi-user workstations, point of sale applications, standards compliance, quality control, time and attendance data collection, data network access, laboratory equipment sign on and several other Windows applications where businesses require a fast fingerprint reading on the first attempt. With its quick return on investment, the new Mariner sensor brings all these features and more in an easy-to-use, durable and small package.

Integration into PC keyboards, handheld devices, kiosks and any other Windows PC hosted application is a very easy process for the Mariner sensor, which also comes as an OEM package.
