Solekai Speeds Software Development in Digital Media, Smart Grid, Connected Health and Cloud

It is no secret that in our digital, software-centric and connected world, being fast-to-market and fast in the market are now critical success factors. In addition, it is also no secret that in order to literally and figuratively speed things along, companies are outsourcing more and more capabilities to others with deep expertise so that they can concentrate on their core competencies.

In this regard, the move by enterprises to enlist the services of software design companies, and the traction such companies are getting, particularly in fast-growing vertical markets, should not be considered a secret.  It is why readers will find the recent ITEXPO East interview by TMC (News - Alert) Group Editorial Director Erik Linask of John Stafford, President & CEO, Solekai Systems so interesting.

Solekai helps customers design, development, integrate, and test software solutions. It has developed deep domain expertise that enables it to rapidly provide scalable high-quality software solutions for mission critical client needs in the areas of Digital Media, Smart Grid, Connected Health, Mobility and Cloud.

As Stafford points out, “We operate in multiple vertical markets and try to benefit our clients by getting to market quicker. We put fresh eyes on software they already have out in the field, and help them drive more revenue on an outsourced software basis.”

Stafford says that while at a high level companies are turning software development services firms generally because of the needs for speed as a priority there are three parts to this worth understanding:

  1. The obvious reason to seek assistance because there is a deadline looming that cannot be met using solely existing resources.
  2. A corollary is that Solekai gets asked in when there are bugs in critical software that need to be found, fixed or both, and done so in an expeditious manner.
  3. Customers need assurance that when they deploy massively that it works. Solekai is not just fast on creating and designing software but through simulations can rapidly enable companies to scale solutions with confidence, i.e., go from initial deployment to enterprise class in a hurry.

As noted at the top, Solekai already has domain expertise in helping digital media companies assure high quality distribution to video end points. In fact, this vertical represents roughly 40 percent of their business. They also are working with water, gas and electric utilities on smart grid initiatives for making sure meters are user and field technician friendly and accurate.

In the connected health area software development concentration is on remote tele-consults and getting all of the information being collected by remote sensors to hospitals and other health care providers quickly and securely.  And, the company has broad cloud software development expertise. In fact, because of all aspects of business process optimization it touches, Solekai  it is constantly looking at additional vertical markets where being fast and helping being recognized as best by customers is now a top priority.

It is why as Stafford explains, Solekai typically is speaking with C-levels in marketing and sales since they are the ones who must keep clients happy, contracts fulfilled and establish differentiated value based on a number of metrics. As Stafford says, they make great partners as well since they help Solekai identify where the gaps are in their businesses so solutions can be tailored to their exact and exacting requirements.

The need for speed is not just about going faster.  It is about going faster smarter.  This is why relying on organizations with the resources to solve problems and come up with innovations that can be created quickly, tested thoroughly and deployed massively is emerging as such a growth area itself.
