Accenture EPIC Portal Improves Efficiency via Data Consolidation

Global professional services company Accenture (News - Alert) has had a remarkable month. So far in January, the company bolstered its cloud services through the acquisition of CRMWaypoint, a supplier of cloud advisory and technology services, followed by an unprecedented collaboration with SAP (News - Alert). Following that up, Accenture has launched a digital portal meant to help product developers accelerate delivery of products to market at lower costs through improved efficiency.

Dubbed the Accenture Enterprise Product Information and Content (EPIC) Portal, this offering consolidates large amounts of product development data from various enterprise systems into a single, organized view. Accenture claims this simple act of consolidation can reduce the time needed for product developers to search for data by upwards of 95 percent. The fact that all of this data is then accessible from mobile devices as well as traditional PCs means that employees working while on the road can leverage the same benefits as those in the office.

In other words, this portal enables product developers to use analytics to anticipate and solve problems, while developing insights and making better-informed decisions. The bottom line is that the EPIC portal facilitates faster decision making.

“Throughout large, complex companies, product developers grapple with data scattered across too many siloed databases, complicated system user interfaces, and cumbersome access to analytics and product data reports,” said Kevin Prendeville, a managing director in Accenture’s Product Lifecycle Services business. “The EPIC portal equips engineers with one integrated source to identify risks and speed product deliveries whenever they need to, wherever they are, which increases efficiency and lowers costs.”

Accenture developed the EPIC portal specifically for companies that design, engineer and manufacture complex products in industries like aerospace, automotive, consumer products, electronics, industrial equipment, high-tech and life science. As such, the portal features predefined integration with product lifecycle management, enterprise resource planning and various other applications typically used in product design and production.
