BrightPoint's Sentinel View Integrates with IBM Security Intelligence

Hackers are great at collaborating to take down systems, but the defense industry hasn’t been so quick to integrate. While the concept of full cooperation is still somewhat foreign to companies that provide security solutions, the latest collaboration between BrightPoint and IBM (News - Alert) is a move in the right direction. Under this new arrangement, organizations will be able to carry out threat investigations and have increased visibility into evolving risks and threats in the digital ecosystem.

BrightPoint Security has a security platform that is designed to deliver instant insight and prescriptive response to protect digital assets from cyber threats. The company achieves this through a secure community-based threat intelligence sharing, which is critical to address the ever growing number of bad actors in the digital ecosystem. The company and its community share past, current and emerging threats and make it readily available to find solutions and protect their respective assets.

With this partnership, BrightPoint’s Sentinel View application will be integrated along with its BrightPoint Security Command Platform to be offered as part of the IBM QRadar security intelligence technology. All of these solutions have been put together, to be available for the security community through the IBM Security App Exchange. The exchange is a marketplace created where developers can come together to share apps that have been created based on IBM Security technologies.

During the launch of App Exchange on December 8, 2015, Marc van Zadelhoff, Vice President, Strategy and Product Management, IBM Security said, "With thousands of customers now standardizing on IBM's security technologies, opening this platform for closer collaboration and development with partners and customers changes the economics of fighting cybercrime. Sharing expertise across the security industry will allow us to innovate more quickly in order to help stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated attacks."

The Sentinel platform works in conjunction with QRadar, an intelligence platform that identifies potential security threats by analyzing data across the IT infrastructure of an organization in real-time. Whenever a threat is detected, users can get detailed information on the incident from QRadar. The system grades the threat level and delivers a risk score, velocity of the attack within the environment and provides insight into other assets that could be endangered by the same threat.

According to BrightPoint, it has the first and only patented threat intelligence solution designed for secure sharing that addresses privacy and liability concerns. With the integration of Sentinel View and IBM’s QRadar, security teams now have proven technology that quickly recognizes threats and disseminates the information to a wide community of likeminded individuals and organizations to come up with a solution as fast as possible before it causes any harm.

"With BrightPoint, QRadar users can anonymously share specific indicators of compromise with their industry or other trusted organizations. BrightPoint's risk scoring and velocity information combined with community-driven threat information helps QRadar customers focus on the most relevant and active cyber threats," said Rich Reybok, BrightPoint CTO.
