Varonis Systems Updates Security Capabilities of DatAnywhere with Version 2.5

Varonis Systems, a provider of software solutions that help enterprises map, analyze, manage and migrate unstructured data, has announced the release of version 2.5 of DatAnywhere, a cloud enterprise file-sync and -sharing solution.

With DatAnywhere, companies can quickly provide users with file sync and mobile access without having to upgrade IT infrastructure, move data or reconfigure permissions. Data is maintained on existing file servers or network-attached storage (NAS) with existing permissions, while setup rules give administrators full monitoring and access control tools including the ability to remotely wipe devices. Data can be securely accessed via a desktop client, mobile app or website and is compatible with Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android (News - Alert). The solution provides all the benefits of cloud storage while retaining the capabilities of hardware hosting, with a secure backup always available to boot.

“When we created DatAnywhere, we had a vision to help remove the tension between employee mobility and heightened security risks,” said David Gibson, Vice President of Varonis. “Today, this conflict is more prevalent than ever. With the new enhancements to DatAnywhere 2.5, we are equipping our customers with even more confidence in the security of their data being shared, edited and accessed by their employees on mobile devices, desktops and tablets.”

Version 2.5 enhances the product with new security features and encryption compatibility. A tool for blocking the syncing of shared Workspaces with desktops is now available for administrators using a Mac or Windows computer, and settings can now be configured and enforced by administrators on a Windows device. The DatAnywhere document viewer can now display file contents on Android devices. As far as encryption capabilities, the software can now support SMTP servers with required TLS encryption and the Windows client is now compatible with FIPS encryption.

These enhancements follow a range of new feature additions over the past few months such as online document viewers, improved collaboration links, an updated file structure system, and extensive interface updates. Version 2.5 of DatAnywhere is now available.
