Evolve IP Launches IT-as-a-Service

Evolve IP (News - Alert), a service provider of cloud-based resources for IT departments, recently announced the launch of its IT-as-a-service (ITaaS) program which will give those same departments access to outsourced management services and self-administration tools.

With this new program, Evolve is targeting two groups. First, there are the IT departments with not enough resources to cover their needs. These small businesses may have to manage their own servers but are understaffed and stressed because of it. Then there is the overworked crowd of IT that may have a sizable staff but which, also, finds itself bogged down with technical administration. Scott Kinka (News - Alert), the chief technology officer at Evolve IP, remarked on the difficulties these groups face and what his company can do to alleviate their stressors.

“Managing all of an organization's data, hardware, and computing resources in-house can be challenging, inefficient, and expensive,” Kinka said. “Our ITaaS customers benefit from being able to focus on core strategic business initiatives rather than being bogged down by day-to-day IT problems. Today's IT departments need to be nimble and highly responsive and by leveraging ITaaS they will become far more agile.”

Evolve IP is providing a number of tools in this ITaaS package that are essentially detailed self-service portals. RRM, its remote management console allows for configuration and management of computing resources as well as access to performance reports and an anti-virus system. This center is available for access from anywhere a business has an Internet connection.

Helpdesk is meant to supplement that portal with support from Evolve IP agents during their normal business hours. The Managed IT tools extends that support with around-the-clock monitoring of a business's systems and response to issues as they arise. With Managed IT, there is also support for cloud-based applications, license and warranty management, system integrity checks, and system backups. Finally, the MDM tools gives businesses a dashboard for controlling all mobile devices on their systems. This includes configuration of devices, location of lost devices, remote data access, and security protocol enforcement to keep company data safe.

Each tool clearly has a defined place in the ecosystem of an organization, yet there they all have the common goal of making infrastructure management less of a headache. With remote access to overall systems, individual applications, and all company-registered mobile devices, businesses of all sizes could benefit from placing their IT management needs at least partially in the cloud.
