IBM Recognized as a Leader in the Digital Transformation Implementation Market

International Data Corporation (IDC (News - Alert)), a provider of market intelligence, advisory services and events for the IT, telecom and consumer technology markets, has published a new MarketScape report that takes an in-depth look at the operations of vendors in the digital transformation implementation market. Known as the “IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Digital Transformation Consulting and System Integration Services 2015 Vendor Assessment,” the report studies both quantitative and qualitative characteristics that explain success by covering a variety of vendors with a comprehensive evaluation process.

The methodology behind the report — which primarily considers both IT and business factors — put IBM (News - Alert) in the “Leaders” category, alongside Accenture and PwC. A survey of buyers led to IDC’s conclusion that the ability to achieve desired business outcomes as well as the ability to deliver results-producing innovation are most important for ensuring the success of a digital transformation implementation services project. IBM was recognized in particular for its seamless implementation of 3rd Platform technologies, which drive business process and IT/people change to meet business needs and maintain relevance in the marketplace.

“Services vendors in the space must possess solid technical expertise across all aspects of the 3rd Platform technologies as well as equally sound business process and change management knowledge to stay relevant in the space,” commented Ali Zaidi, a senior research analyst of IT Consulting and Systems Integration Strategies at IDC.

IBM has exerted significant resources over the past few years repositioning itself to focus on future technologies and stake a claim in various market niches that are cropping up. Therefore it follows that IDC noted the company’s greatest strengths as being its future business strategy and future offering strategy, as well as its ability to effectively stick to digital transformation project timelines. IBM also is an expert at combining the physical and digital worlds to create market-leading customer experiences.

“Industries and companies are being radically disrupted by the forces of digital transformation, and the pace of change is greater than any other time in history,” said Paul Papas, Global Leader, IBM Interactive Experience. “IBM combines big data and analytics, industry consulting and world-class design to help our clients take an experience driven approach to digital transformation. At IBM, digital is in our DNA, and we are thrilled to be recognized by IDC as a leader for our unmatched digital transformation capabilities.”
