How to Build a Sustainable Storage Infrastructure

In our personal lives we tend to love “how to” guides. In fact, one of the big trends of the past few years has been the raging interest in do-it-yourself (DIY) capabilities ranging from cookbooks to building your own airplane.  The same has been true in the business world where the “For Dummies Books” have been a staple for years.  In fact, it is how I became Microsoft (News - Alert) Office proficient.

But what about when it comes to enterprise technology challenges that are really complex?  How can we learn from organizations that have been innovators in areas where we are struggling or are just getting started?   Better yet, what about when it deals with how best to approach necessary major transformations such as those that IT professionals must face in dealing with rethinking and re-architecting their computing, networking and storage resources that are the lifeblood of their enterprise?

One of the best ways to learn about alternatives and paths taken is to hear from those who have already achieved transformational success.  They have learned the hard way what works and what does not, and it is always a unique opportunity to find out first-hand the keys to success.

In this regard, you may wish to mark your calendar and plan on joining the webinar, A Case Study on How to Build a Sustainable Storage Infrastructure.  To be held Thursday, April 16 at 12:30 PM EDT/9:30 AM PDT, you are invited to join me, Henry Baltazar, Senior Analyst, Forrester (News - Alert) Research, R. Neal Moss, Systems and Network Analyst, Brigham Young University Hawaii and Brandon Farris, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Tegile as we dive into the details of Brigham Young University (BYU) Hawaii’s recent implementation of a next generation storage infrastructure.

BYU – Hawaii had a problem. The staff was becoming extremely displeased with the sluggishness of their systems, specifically issues arising from an out-dated storage solution.  The University had already upgraded servers and infrastructure but was a bit unsettled by the lack of a perceivable increase in speed when accessing data systems.  Since BYU-Hawaii was about to hit its five-year storage replacement cycle the time to rethink things was at hand.  Their goal, put simply, was invest in a storage system solution that was future-ready in terms of speeds, capacity, agility and price performance, and that also was very intuitive and VMware friendly.

This may seem to be a daunting checklist, but BYU-Hawaii with the help of Tegile hit all of the must-haves and more and is willing to share their experiences with colleagues.  In fact, the panel will not just share the journey on how it built and is maintaining a world-class storage infrastructure, but will provide advice as to how you can as well.

Plus, there will be time allocated to answer your questions.  We hope you will join us.
