How Lantronix is Helping to Fight IT Laziness

There are times when I question how far I need to take convenience when it hits the point of laziness. I have an office in my basement, which means that’s where I house the router, the server and the printer. When I open a file on my iPhone (News - Alert) and want a quick print, it would be great if all I had to do was to hit print and the Bluetooth in my phone would talk to my printer. The capability may be there, but I haven’t completed the digging to find out.

This is where I assume laziness is creeping in. I want to print from my iPhone so I don’t have to open my laptop. But I can’t print from my iPhone because I haven’t configured the printer properly or even verified that Bluetooth printing is even an option. It takes time to do these things and without an easy, three-step process, I’m not always excited to try.

Some of this may stem from the fact that I introduced Apple (News - Alert) products into my PC environment. Then my teenagers brought in Android and the number of different applications, configurations and operating systems is enough to make me want to go back to pen and paper. I know I’m missing the key opportunity here – hand the entire issue over to the teenagers and let them figure it out. But do I really want to be limited like that after they are grown and gone? Wouldn’t it be better to have a solution that easily integrates all of my platforms for easy operation?

The ideal situation would be to have my own IT professional, one who would follow me around from my home office to the one I maintain downtown. Different issues plague different locations and stopping to take the time to troubleshoot doesn’t sound all that appealing, either. Especially if I need to manage a device in my home office while I’m sitting in my downtown office – I simply have to wait until someone else gets home or it doesn’t happen. Not the most efficient of systems – fortunately the small business doesn’t have to operate this way.

Lantronix (News - Alert) is bringing products to market that take away many of the headaches described above. It also helps to address the laziness, taking away the ills that cause an individual to think they’re too lazy to address a problem. Solutions that connect iPads and iPhones to any installed printer or allow you to easily see and manage devices across the IP networks simplify processes. If you’re operating a branch or multiple locations, such tools streamline complexities and allow you to stay focused on the business processes at hand.

To learn more, Lantronix was on hand at Interop (News - Alert) 2014 in New York. TMCnet was able to get the full scoop in this video interview. Check it out in full to learn what this company is doing to help rid the industry of laziness and easily connect those things that seemed impossible to connect in the past – if you’re over the age of 17 and not an IT expert.
