Riverbed Enhances Network Planning and Configuration Management Solution

Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology, a company specializing in application performance infrastructure, has been providing real-time updates on network configuration via its SteelCentral Network Planning and Configuration Management (NPCM) (formerly known as OPNET Network Engineering, Operations and Planning or NEOP). The updates offer faster troubleshooting and network availability. SteelCentral NPCM products are part of the Riverbed SteelCentral product family and have now been enhanced with new features.

With an ever-increasing number of regulatory, organizational and security policies, it is critical for IT staff to keep their network in compliance. This need includes sustained monitoring and a solution that will help in diagnosing and curing issues before end users notice.

Newly added features include: SteelCentral NetAuditor, SteelCentral NetAuditor, SteelCentral NetPlanner.

SteelCentral NetAuditor is a feature that helps in network auditing, diagramming, troubleshooting, and changing control. It comprises a web interface to create context-specific network maps and diagrams that can assist in troubleshooting network and configuration issues.

SteelCentral NetPlanner is a feature that can assist in network planning and design of multi-technology, multi-vendor networks with complete lifecycle support that includes; network data import, baseline analysis, network change planning, survivability testing.

SteelCentral NetCollector is a network data management solution that reduces time and effort spent manually collecting and reconciling network data. Its integration with Riverbed SteelHead automatically detects and collects configuration and operational data and validates configurations to check for errors and violations.

“As performance troubleshooting teams know all too well, relying on out-of-date network change, topology and configuration data while keeping up with business-critical network and application obligations drive high IT operational costs and reduce staff productivity. Businesses need to prevent outages rather than troubleshoot them,” Nik Koutsoukos, senior director, product marketing, SteelCentral at Riverbed said in a statement.
