ADVA Optical Networking Unveils New Big Data Transport Solution

ADVA Optical Networking (News - Alert) recently introduced its Big Data Transport solution to transport enormous amounts of data in the most efficient, scalable and secure way possible.

Officials said that BDT is fully integrated into the ADVA FSP 3000 and will help define a new era of data center connectivity.

Jointly developed with the world's leading data center and storage area networking enterprises, BDT is the most scalable solution on the market capable of channeling increasingly enormous amounts of data between an ever growing number of geographically dispersed data centers.

"Data centers are entering a new era of rapid growth, a new era of extreme data demands," said Christoph Glingener, CTO, ADVA Optical Networking. "But to connect these data centers and transport the ever growing data volumes in the fastest and securest manner is no small task. That's why we've developed our BDT solution. It's a direct response to customers who need the ultimate in efficiency, the ultimate in scale, the ultimate in security.”

ADVA Optical Networking's BDT solution has been heavily optimized to offer various key efficiencies, including space, power and cost.

These efficiencies have been designed to drive down operating expenditures and reduce IT budgets. From 10Gbit/s, to 40Gbit/s, to 100Gbit/s and beyond, BDT can scale to specific networking demands.

Scale is about more than speeds though and BDT has been developed to ensure fiber efficiency. It also features ultra-dense direct-detect technology that works with 192 wavelengths on one fiber, an important asset in an age of fiber scarcity and resource optimization.

Innate security is also one of the most critical aspects of BDT. It has been engineered to provide the most robust encryption technology possible.

Company officials said that the BDT solution is the only solution in the industry that offers 100Gbit/s with AES 256 in-flight encryption. It encrypts every bit that enters one of the client ports, not just the payload or select bytes.

In a press statement, Stephan Rettenberger, vice president, Marketing, ADVA Optical Networking, said: “Our engineers have crafted a solution that will enable enterprises to drive their businesses in new directions, enable them to capitalize on previously unimaginable ambitions. With BDT there are no boundaries, no restrictions, only opportunities. This is an exciting journey to be a part of."
