Continuent Announces Q1 Growth

Continuent, a provider of open source database clustering and replication solutions, has announced that the Company has grown tremendously by aligning its offerings to match the needs of its customers.

The company offers consulting services to generate replication filters and implement intricate replication topologies in production and also provides 24-hour comprehensive technical support for Tungsten Replicator.

Recently, the company has added many new enterprises to its customers list including eBay (News - Alert) and Groupon and at the same time more than 95 percent of existing customers renewed their Continuent Tungsten software subscriptions. Additionally, the company has also improved its year-over-year sales for the first three months by more than 246 percent.

According to the company, the continuous growth was due to the demand for Continuent Tungsten 2.0, a proven MySQL clustering solution that backs high-availability, disaster recovery, and geographically distributed data needs.

Eero Teerikorpi, chairman and COO of Continuent said that their ability to add new customers and increase revenue is due to their highly differentiated software offerings and ability to quickly deliver extraordinary economic value.

Continuent Tungsten offers these features for MySQL and MariaDB based deployment, both in own data center and in the public cloud, such as Amazon AWS.

“Every day, our customers rely on Continuent’s database clustering and data replication solutions to run business-critical applications that generate billions of dollars of revenue on open source databases. Equally important is that we enable them to achieve the real-time integration needed to make their businesses thrive and grow,” Teerikorpi added.

To offer more accessibility, the company has also released a sub-set of the complete Tungsten solution called, Tungsten Replicator, under a GPL V2 license and is a high performance, open source, data replication engine for MySQL and Oracle (News - Alert).

With the Tungsten Replicator, data can be quickly and flexibly moved out of operational databases into Hadoop. A key advantage of Tungsten Replicator is that by automatically reading the DBMS and forwarding transactions as soon as they commit, it reduces the load on operational systems, minimizes the amount of data that needs to move between locations, and allows transactions to quickly enter the data warehouse.
