FalconStor Announces Free Migration Program for IBM ProtecTIER Customers

In today's business world, data is a very critical asset whose value cannot be underestimated. As such, it's essential that data be managed and protected properly.

Understanding this, FalconStor (News - Alert) Software, Inc., a major player in data protection and migration, recently introduced a new, easy and free migration program for IBM ProtecTIER customers, which offers a no-charge, like-for-like license swap.

It is because of the interoperable, hardware-agnostic nature of FalconStor technology that the migration program allows customers to reuse their existing hardware.

Officials said that FalconStor customers can now benefit from having the industry's most flexible, cost-effective solutions without worrying about vendor lock-in or data loss and downtime.

By migrating to FalconStor's solution, customers can experience full business continuity, as automatic tape caching functions allow backups and recoveries to continue uninterrupted as data or tapes are migrated in the background.

"We're proud to offer IBM (News - Alert) ProtecTIER customers the freedom to migrate their data at no cost and with no interruptions," said Gary Quinn, President and CEO, FalconStor Software, in a press statement. “We're confident that our new customers will benefit from the improved performance and freedom offered by FalconStor."

Available now through Dec. 31, 2014, FalconStor's free migration program applies to like-for-like license swaps with equal capacity.

New customers will be migrated onto the recently launched FalconStor Optimized Backup & Deduplication 8.0. This solution platform helps users to manage both block and file backup and deduplication on a single node, which further helps in reducing the backup window and shrinking the storage footprint.

For the new customers, it is important that they sign a three-year maintenance agreement. They can also purchase additional capacity and/or data management solutions at their discretion.

In February, TMCnet reported that FalconStor Software, Inc. has announced the general availability of a new, unified solution for improving backup and deduplication.
