Green Hills Software Integrates with Freescale Semiconductor Coprocessor Family

Green Hills Software, a supplier of embedded software solutions, has initiated a multi-tiered integration with the Freescale Semiconductor (News - Alert) C29x cryptographic coprocessor family.

The Green Hills solutions to be integrated include the INTEGRITY real-time operating system (RTOS), embedded cryptographic toolkit and advanced MULTI integrated development environment (IDE).

These solutions will leverage the Freescale C29x security engine (SEC (News - Alert)), allowing designers to meet the demand for secure processing in applications like data center computing, hardware security modules and security appliances that are used by government, banking, and defense systems.

Clients will be able to use the INTEGRITY RTOS and embedded cryptographic toolkit to increase their software security. Even if compute-intensive math used in transactions and secure network communications tend to saturate processors and multicore SoCs, the C29x security engine (SEC) can offload this processing thereby optimizing performance.

The INTEGRITY separation architecture and scheduling policies ensure real-time determinism, application separation and quality of service, while the INTEGRITY RTOS provides integrated middleware for file systems, wireless, IPv4/v6 networking, graphics and connectivity.

With the embedded cryptographic toolkit, clients will have access to a complete set of C- language cryptographic algorithms, random number generators, secret-key and public-key cryptography and secure networking protocols that are validated to FIPS 140-2 level 1 and meet the NSA Suite B Standard. The high assurance embedded cryptographic toolkit (HA-ECT) will additionally offer a complete cryptographic algorithm encompassing AES encryption and elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) for key agreement and digital signatures, ramping up security features.

Software developers will now be able to create a more reliable product quickly and at reduced development costs, using the MULTI IDE and Green Hills JTAG probe to create a complete software and hardware environment that is suitable for building embedded applications in C, C++, and Embedded C++.

Green Hills’ INTEGRITY real-time operating system (RTOS) and MULTI integrated development environment (IDE) have been selected by Urban Aeronautics, Ltd. for the flight management system of the AirMule Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) recently.
