In order to deliver time-sensitive emails, text messages, and other critical notifications to the entire community in a systematic fashion, the Nassau County is said to have implemented critical communications solutions from Everbridge.
Traci Masau, interim director for Nassau County Emergency Management, explained, “We can really start reaching the community so they’re made aware of things that are going to take place, like floods, hurricanes, and road closures. It could be really beneficial for them. There are definitely a lot of options with Everbridge that make it more useful for citizens.”
The County didn’t just deploy Everbridge solutions to send automatic alerts to its residents, it is also providing them with options to choose how and where they want to receive alerts, and also have the preference to specify any quiet reporting periods. With Everbridge, the County can access over 40 different types of alerts, including SMART Weather Alerts for location-specific updates on floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and severe weather events.
Everbridge explained that it offers interactive communication and mass notification solutions to organizations in all major industries and government sectors. Its message alert systems including the mass notification service enables users to send notifications to individuals or groups using lists, locations, and visual intelligence and it can keep everyone informed before, during, and after events whether emergency or non-emergency.
Everbridge’s SMART Weather Alerting which is being used by Nassau County supposedly leverages AccuWeather & Weather Decision Technologies meteorological resources to enhance and optimize over 150 severe weather alerts such as lightning, tornados, thunderstorms, hail, ice, snow, extreme temperatures, high winds, flash floods, and flooding. The system makes use of an automated rules engine that supercharges the speed and accuracy of alert delivery so notifications get to the right people right away.
