UK Primary School Installs Tech-enabled WizeFloor

The past few years have seen a tremendous boom in education technology, like the shift of content delivery beyond the walled-off classroom and the emergence of adaptive learning platforms that is making learning more interactive.

The Oaks Community Primary School in Ipswich, the U.K., has been selected as the first school in the country to install a groundbreaking interactive learning tool called WizeFloor. Recently, local head teachers and education specialists from the region attended a live demonstration event at The Oaks, joined by the Ipswich Member of Parliament, Ben Gummer.

WizeFloor was developed from more than seven years’ research and development by the renowned Alexandra Institute along with Solutors in Denmark. It has won the Red Dot Design Award as ‘Best-of-Best’ within the category of “Educational Products.” The system is now available in the U.K. for nurseries, primary schools and special education establishments. 

WizeFloor has been specially designed for children ages 3-11. This innovative system projects an interactive floor space that’s used and controlled just like a touch screen or tablet device. It’s super-sized, and children can gesture with their arms, legs and feet as they interact and play curriculum-focused activities.

Jeremy Pentreath, head teacher said in a statement, “Pupils that have used the WizeFloor have loved it and been thoroughly engaged in their learning, I’m a great believer in ‘learning through play’ and with the WizeFloor children have so much fun that they don’t even realize they’re learning.”

He continued: “It’s so intuitive that children can easily create their own WizeFloor games. New games are saved in the cloud, which allows access from home. Teachers can also collaborate and share content with colleagues. There’s already an impressive library of content but, as words spreads across the country, this will grow into a phenomenal curriculum-focused resource for nursery and primary schools.”
