Fujitsu and ImageWare Enhance Cloud-Based Biometric Identity Management Offerings

Fujitsu (News - Alert) has formed a partnership with ImageWare, a provider of identity-based credential management solutions, to deliver cloud-based biometric identity management solutions and services to the financial services, retail, healthcare and manufacturing sectors.

Under this partnership, Fujitsu and ImageWare Systems are offering a cloud-based biometric platform that provides these industries with an agnostic approach relative to various modalities such as voice, facial, iris and fingerprinting applications.

ImageWare Systems’ patent-protected technology allows private and public organizations to deploy configurable and modular multi-modal biometric based identity and authentication management solutions, said Jim Miller, chairman and CEO of ImageWare Systems.

Smartphones have emerged as the new growth area for biometric technology especially because transactions shift to mobile devices which are expected to exceed the world population in 2014. The combined solution enables easy deployment of biometric security for mobile and traditional applications.

ImageWare Systems delivers its biometric technology through the Fujitsu interactive cloud-based service and provides authentication using the latest range of smart mobile devices. Its patented biometric engine supports different biometric models.

The collaboration aims to address the growing need among customers to securely identify and authenticate data that is important for enterprise businesses while also addressing IT demands, leveraging highly scalable cloud solutions, said a Fujitsu executive.

The solution will equip Fujitsu to establish and emerging markets to define and diversify how biometric solutions and services are utilized – whether it’s preventing fraud at financial institutions or using voice recognition via mobile devices to investigate criminal activity.

ImageWare Systems can now deliver next generation of cloud-based identification management solutions to global enterprises and service providers. With this, they are poised to save businesses billions of dollars on a yearly basis, the company said.  

The service supports a dozen different biometric models via its patented biometric engine. The company delivers its biometric technology through the Fujitsu interactive cloud-based service and provides authentication using the latest range of smart mobile devices, a key area of growth for the technology market.
