Zettaset Enhances Orchestrator for Hadoop Cluster Management

Zettaset announced that the company has added data-at-rest encryption capabilities to its flagship product, Zettaset Orchestrator. The newly enhanced distribution-agnostic Hadoop cluster management platform will enable deployment of Hadoop in areas such as healthcare and financial services, where stringent rules are applicable for guarding personal data. The addition of the encryption feature makes Zettaset Orchestrator an ideal solution for enterprise-class Hadoop management across big data deployments.

“Encryption is a very specialized capability, and there are few viable options available today for Hadoop users,” said Jim Vogt, CEO of Zettaset. “When it comes to risk management, Zettaset Orchestrator with data-at-rest encryption gives customers the upper hand, supporting compliance mandates such as HIPAA, BSA/AML and PCI (News - Alert)-DSS, for example, and provides assurance that their Hadoop cluster data is protected against malicious attacks.”

Zettaset Orchestrator is also embedded with the best-in-class role-based access control in addition to LDAP/AD integration, which allows the software to be easily integrated into the organization’s existing frameworks related to security policies. Organizations can opt to embed encryption during the installation process.

Zettaset Orchestrator is stand-alone commercial software featuring full compatibility with other open source technologies available in the market. With the enhanced encryption feature, Zettaset Orchestrator enables regulated companies to comply with the guidelines associated with electronic data security and other industry regulations. The software leverages the 256-bit AES encryption, which is the highest available encryption standard to date. The KMIP protocol enables the solutions to be seamlessly integrated with existing features and key managers in the infrastructure framework. One of the most impactful features include negligible effect on Hadoop cluster performance thus enabling Hadoop deploying organizations to seamlessly upgrade their infrastructure without application downtime.

Tony Baer, principal analyst at Ovum (News - Alert) Research, said, “Securing Hadoop data has been a work in progress. Zettaset's support of encryption as part of its Orchestrator cluster management product is an important step toward making data protection in Hadoop policy-driven.”

Zettaset is engaged in the development of software solutions for Big Data management through automation, acceleration and simplification of deploying enterprise-class Hadoop clusters. The company’s Zettaset Orchestrator is the best available Big Data management solution in a distributed computing network.
