FireEye Protects Core Components of Data Center with New Solution

FireEye (News - Alert) is protecting the core components of the data center with the release of its FireEye Data Centre Security solution. The new offering has been designed to protect web and application servers, content repositories and common file shares from advanced attacks. This offering seems to be released at the right time as the global data is predicted to expand to 40 trillion gigabytes by 2020, according to research firm IDC (News - Alert).

It is not uncommon for enterprises to store very high volume of unstructured data in content repositories that are not protected. Hackers recognize the importance of this data and often make it the target of their attack. “Unstructured data often represents the core assets in a company and we now have a solution to help protect the repositories that store them,”said Manish Gupta (News - Alert), FireEye SVP of products.

The FireEye Data Center Security solution is ideal to protect data centre from advanced malware and targeted attacks. The solution features a FireEye Multi-Vector Virtual Execution (MVX) engine that can combat zero-day and unknown threats.

FireEye claims the newly released solution can permanently quarantine advanced malware in content repositories and file shares and enables real- time intelligence sharing via the FireEye Dynamic Threat Intelligence (DTI (News - Alert)) cloud.

Moreover, the solution also protects organizations from attackers that use an organization’s data center infrastructure to host malware.

“With the FireEye Data Center Security solution, enterprises can extend the industry-leading threat prevention platform from the perimeter into the data center,” added Gupta.

FireEye provides real-time threat protection with a purpose-built, virtual machine-based security platform. The company was in the news in August for appointing Kara Wilson as chief marketing officer (CMO).
