Boston IT Solutions Announces NVIDIA GRID Technology-Based Quattro 1480-T Server Solution

Organizations planning to design and deploy optimized, virtualized desktop platforms in an efficient manner have a new option available in the market – the Quattro 1480-T, from Boston IT Solutions (India) Private Limited, a provider of mission-critical server, storage and workstation solutions.

Boston IT’s new offering Boston Quattro 1480-T is a server solution based on NVIDIA (News - Alert) GRID K2 boards and on Supermicro’s FatTwin server platform. This completely integrated hardware and software stack is designed to deliver graphics-accelerated performance for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).

Boston IT has been a distributing partner for Super Micro Computer, a provider of advanced server building block solutions for data center, cloud computing, enterprise IT, Hadoop/big data, HPC and embedded systems, for two decades.

Built on NVIDIA’s GRID technology, the new Boston Quattro 1480-T server solution features a unique four hot-pluggable node design, with each node containing dual Intel (News - Alert) Xeon E5-2600 V2 processors, 128GB of ECC DDR3 memory and two of NVIDIA’s Kepler architecture-based K2 GRID boards.

According to Boston IT, the Quattro 1480-T can be deployed in a high-density cluster ideal for large-scale user pools. This facilitates IT managers to add graphics-intensive users to their virtual solution. This bolsters user density while offering true PC performance and compatibility.

Because Quattro 1480-T is based on Boston’s NVIDIA GRID technology, the new software stack is completely validated to provide rich graphics in virtualized environments. In addition, it supports virtualization software from Citrix, VMware and Microsoft (News - Alert).

NVIDIA GRID K2 boards, meanwhile, are optimized for graphics and 3D-intensive tasks in Adobe applications, Autodesk and SolidWorks, and NVIDIA GRID K1 boards facilitate high-density VDI for knowledge workers.

In a statement, Manoj Nayee, managing director for Boston Limited, said, “Boston takes pride in unveiling our latest range of media optimized VDI solutions based on Supermicro hardware and innovative GRID technology from NVIDIA. Customers looking for the most efficient path to scalable enterprise platforms need look no further than Boston for dedicated NVIDIA GRID-optimized solutions.”

Nayee added, “With the Boston Quattro 1480-T IT professionals now have the flexibility to quickly design and deploy optimized, virtualized desktop platforms throughout their organizations.”
