Cloud Apps for ERP, Security and Document Management Score High in Enterprise Readiness

Cloud computing, one of the latest trends in IT, has indisputably transformed the IT landscape in organizations. Cloud apps such as customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resources planning (ERP), sales automation and cloud storage are some of the most popular applications.

A recent report from Netskope reveals that ERP, document management and security are the top-scoring apps that tend to address audit logging, granular role-based policies and separation of customers' data in the cloud much better than bottom-scoring apps. The report aims to give IT and business decision makers insights into cloud app risks, opportunities and usage trends that will help them make the most informed decisions, said Sanjay Beri, Netskope CEO.

Salesforce.com CRM and Salesforce Automation (SFA) topped the list of high scoring cloud apps, followed by Box (News - Alert) cloud storage and CrashPlan cloud backup solutions in the second and third position.

Others included in the top 10 highest scoring cloud apps are Amazon Web Services, EasyVista, Workday, Syncplicity, eVault, Zoho (News - Alert) and NetSuite.

On the other hand, cloud app categories such as software development, marketing and productivity rank the lowest in terms of average Cloud Confidence Index (CCI (News - Alert)).

These categories of app score the least because they lack features such as app compliance certifications, encryption of data at rest and enforcement of complex passwords.

The Netskope Cloud Report analyzed data from Netskope's Cloud Confidence Index (CCI), a database of more than 2,600 cloud apps. The company reviewed app features such as security, auditability and disaster recovery, and assigned each app a CCI score between 0-100.

According to Beri, businesses should be diligent about ensuring that their cloud apps include baseline security and enterprise-readiness features. Solutions like Netskope can help supplement some of the features that may be lacking, such as auditability, and can do it consistently across all apps.
