DDD's Subsidiary Inks Development Agreement with InterDigital

DDD is a company that has been transforming the visual experience by bringing 3D to the consumer. The company’s subsidiary, the 3D solutions recently signed a development agreement with a wholly owned subsidiary of InterDigital (News - Alert), for its next generation HD and UHD video processing technologies.

Under the terms of the development agreement, DDD and InterDigital will collaborate to combine DDD's new image processing techniques with InterDigital's user adaptive video streaming technology to bring out combined solution for applications in streaming video to mobile devices and Smart TVs.

"We are pleased to welcome InterDigital as a new strategic shareholder in DDD Group. This development agreement is further endorsement that DDD's latest HD and UHD video processing techniques have significant commercial potential in a range of sizeable markets, including the mobile device market where InterDigital is already an industry leader in mobile IP licensing," Chris Yewdall, chief executive of DDD, said in a statement.

Based on the results, both companies will then determine the most suitable deployment approach, which may include licensing the combined technologies to leading providers of streaming video content to consumers.

Also, the one year development agreement involves the recently announced new inventions that use DDD's 3D image processing techniques to pre-process 2D video before it is encoded and streamed to the viewer. DDD’s TriDef 3D solutions convert 2D to 3D automatically, and enable delivery to 3D TVs, PCs and mobile devices.

"InterDigital is committed to driving disruptive innovation across the mobile ecosystem through in-house development, partnerships, collaborations and acquisitions. Our collaboration with DDD is consistent with InterDigital's recently formed Innovation Partners group, which is focused on expanding InterDigital's reach within the mobile ecosystem," Scott McQuilkin, Senior Executive Vice President, Innovation at InterDigital stated.

DDD Group recently licensed its TriDef 3D software to China's Chongqing JOMVS Photoelectricity Company Limited, for its glasses-free 3D tablets.
