Globecomm is a leading communications company that has long been involved in several different sectors of that market. The firm has dipped its toes in sectors as simple as IT support, but it has also offered up infrastructure improvements for complex organizations such as cable providers. It is the latter kind of a contract that the company recently announced it had scored saying that a major U.S. broadcaster had signed a services contract with the firm that could be valued at more than $12 million over the life of the deal.
In exchange for the rather lucrative contract, Globecomm will be in charge of implementation and design, as well as provide three years of life cycle support to a new affiliate exchange network for the broadcaster. With the contract in place, Globecomm has agreed to upgrade the customer’s existing affiliate exchange network so that it will be that much easier for the broadcaster to proceed in future newsgathering efforts.
This particular network will use proprietary and custom designed software that allows for the ability to dynamically manage transport technologies as well as the unnamed broadcaster’s current and new equipment platforms. This will not only make for a better network across the board for the broadcaster but will help the company save in the costs department to quite a significant degree.
Gerard Johnston, Vice President at Globecomm, issued a recent statement in which he underlined the value of this solution saying, “Globecomm’s compelling ability to blend complex network design with around the clock operational support and field services brings significant value to our customers.”
While the company that signed the contract with Globecomm is being kept under wraps, Globecomm executives have said they are very excited to be offering up their special brand of solutions over the next three years.
