Virident Systems Appoints Mark Delsman as New VP of Engineering

Virident (News - Alert) Systems has appointed Mark Delsman as the company's new vice president of engineering, and Rick Rasmussen as the new vice president of software development.

Delsman will be responsible for engineering and development across all teams.

Company officials said that Rasmussen will lead the software product development team and will report directly to Delsman.

"Virident's proven hardware performance and FlashMAX Connect software set us apart from others in the PCIe flash space," said Vijay Karamcheti, chief technology officer and co-founder of Virident, in a statement.

Karamcheti said that both Mark and Rick bring valuable expertise from storage software and networking that will enable the company to move forward in a strategic and innovative way.

Prior to Virident, Delsman developed the enterprise SSD engineering organization at SanDisk (News - Alert) for more than three years, growing revenue 10-fold and shipping four of the top seven Tier 1 OEMs. He has experience managing and leading across geographic development teams and opened two additional engineering sites in Longmont, Colo., and Bangalore, India, while at SanDisk.

Rasmussen was most recently the vice president of development for the ClusterStor (HPC & Big Data) division at Xyratex International. Before Xyratex, Rasmussen was at Symantec (News - Alert) working on CommandCentral Storage and Veritas Enterprise Administrator.

"We plan to invest heavily in new software capabilities so our server-side flash storage solutions will be a strategic platform for the enterprise datacenter of the future," said Mike Gustafson, CEO of Virident.

Gustafson said that with proven leadership in operations, management and software delivery, Mark and Rick have the experience needed to take the company’s software strategy to the next level.

Earlier in June, Virident Systems Inc., a performance leader in flash-based storage-class memory (SCM) solutions, had announced that IPFS, a provider of premium financing to insureds, insurance agents and brokers in the United States and Puerto Rico, has deployed Virident's FlashMAX II SSD for a cost-effective solution to scale its business and increase performance of its virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
