Quadric Maximises Value of Citrix XenServer v6.2

Quadric Software has maximized the value of Citrix XenServer v6.2.The company has announced an initiative to provide the specialized backup and disaster recovery capabilities required by the enterprises to achieve this goal.

The newly released Alike solution includes a range of backup and DR capabilities that are unique to the Citrix XenServer community.

Quadric Software is the first deduplicating backup solution to be designated as Citrix Ready. The company notes that Citrix’s virtual machine backup feature set, VMPR or Virtual Machine Protection and Recovery is being retired with the release of XenServer 6.2.

“As the most comprehensive backup and disaster recovery solution for the XenServer platform, the Alike product from Quadric Software, is the ideal third-party solution to meet the current and future data protection needs of the XenServer community,” said Phil Baskette, co-founder and CEO of Quadric Software, Inc.

Few capabilities included in the Alike solution are protection for XenServer and Microsoft (News - Alert) Hyper-V environments from a single installation of Alike.

This solution can easily restore virtual machines directly to the running state they were in at the time of the backup. Quadric Software claims Alike boasts the best deduplication and compression capabilities of any Citrix XenServer backup and disaster recovery functionality.

Quadric Software is currently offering a discount to existing customers of Citrix XenServer to promote its new Alike solution.

“We have partnered with Citrix to provide a smooth, cost-effective transition for existing VMPR customers to ensure they have access to the best possible DR protection,” added Baskette.

Quadric Software offers organizations of all sizes the cost-effective solutions they require to address their backup and business continuity requirements. The company recently changed its name to Quadric Software and till May 2013 it was known as QuorumSoft.

The name was changed to coincide with a move supporting Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual environments.
