Richardson, UT Dallas Announce Partnership with US Ignite

US Ignite, a public/private partnership which was initiated at the White House to encourage development of next-generation Internet applications, now has two new members, Richardson (News - Alert) and UT Dallas, joining its growing list.

Richardson is an alliance between the City of Richardson and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, who further joined hands with the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) to become members of US Ignite. This new partnership will enable both entities to look out for new opportunities to develop applications and also create and test innovative new applications requiring ultra-high bandwidth.

“Joining US Ignite US Ignite creates far-reaching opportunities for Richardson and its corporate, academic and entrepreneurial partners in the community,” said Richardson Economic Development Partnership CEO Bill Sproull. “By becoming the first Texas municipal US Ignite partner and fostering advancement of this important national initiative, working hand-in-hand with UT Dallas, Richardson will further burnish its longstanding global reputation as the home of the Telecom Corridor and as a hotbed of technological innovation and entrepreneurship.”

US Ignite is an independent, 501(c) (3) nonprofit, with original inspiration from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the National Science Foundation. This organization is dedicated to transforming the way America delivers healthcare, educates children, keeps communities safe, trains employees and manufactures goods.

US Ignite’s partner list includes the National Science Foundation, premier research institutions, network operators, entrepreneurs, large enterprises and cities across the country. These partners are dedicating their time and effort to nurture 20-25 application projects nationwide.

Richardson and UT Dallas will be introduced as a US Ignite partner at the US Ignite Application Summit taking place June 24-26 in Chicago.
