eXo Opens Access to Cloud-based Enterprise Social Platform

Built on its previous software as a service (SaaS (News - Alert)) offering known as Cloud Workspaces, open-source enterprise social platform provider eXo has opened access to the eXo Cloud, which is a private social intranet designed to make it easier to connect and collaborate with coworkers.

eXo Cloud offers online access to the features of eXo Platform 4 and also integrates social and enterprise collaboration features in a single on-demand offering. The launch comes a year and a half after launching Cloud Workspaces in beta, which allowed for the company to gain feedback on both its product and its cloud services – leading to improvements on eXo Platform 4 and its SaaS counterpart, eXo Cloud, company officials said.  

“These improvements include a design overhaul, an easier user experience and a more robust and flexible multi-tenant platform,” according to a company statement.

eXo Cloud is designed to help small groups and companies needing instant access to a production-ready social intranet without the IT headaches and allows them to set up their workspace in just a few clicks.

eXo Cloud is available as a full-featured, free-access plan. Premium offerings will supplement – and not replace – the free plan in the near future to better fit diverse user environments, company officials said. The eXo platform is also designed to run on-premise or private cloud deployments.

In April, the company launched eXo Platform 4, which comes as an out-of-the-box social intranet solution but it also has website management capabilities from its portal platform roots.
