Eclipse Foundation Picks Granite Networks for Primary Data Centre Facility

The open source community Eclipse Foundation’s requirements are continually expanding. Consequently, the foundation is in need of more data center requirements that would facilitate it with more power and bandwidth in a lesser budget. In effort to meet that demand it has selected Granite Networks as its primary data centre facility.

The Eclipse Foundation is a not-for-profit, member-supported corporation that hosts the Eclipse projects, which focuses on providing extensible development platform and application frameworks for building software. Its members collaborate on commercially friendly open source software.

The extensible tools and frameworks offered by the Eclipse Foundation span the software development life-cycle, including support for modelling, language development environments for Java, C/C++ and others, testing and performance, business intelligence (BI), rich client applications and embedded development.

As cited by Mike Milinkovich, executive director of the Eclipse Foundation, in a statement, the open source community selected Granite Networks, because Granite Networks’s facility is a Tier 3 (News - Alert) data centre that has the capacity to easily handle the foundation’s rapidly evolving power and connectivity demands.

Granite Networks manages a data centre in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. According to the company, this data center facility is designed to meet Tier 3 as well as LEED standards, and also features multiple certifications. It offers Ottawa's only vendor and carrier neutral data centre environment.

Currently, Granite Networks offers flexible colocation, managed services and cloud hosting services to business and government clients in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.

Milinkovich further added, "We know and expect that our core server infrastructure must continue to evolve to support the enormous growth we are seeing in global membership demands.  In fact, we've seen our traffic maintain a steady 200 Mbps at Granite and our servers didn't miss a single beat."

Apart from standard industry certifications, Granite Networks’ data centre solutions at

Ottawa feature carrier neutrality, high-density power options, reliable electrical and networking features and more.
