EarthLink Expands Data Center, Virtualization Services to San Jose

EarthLink, a provider of IT and communications services, has expanded its data center services with the opening of a new data center in San Jose, Calif., built on EarthLink’s next-generation cloud hosting platform.

The opening of its San Jose data center is part of the company’s strategy to create a regionally diverse and expanded IT solutions footprint to support the growing needs of businesses as they embrace virtualization as part of their IT strategy.

San Jose is a strategically located place, and is one of the most technologically driven markets in the country. It is also an important hub and distribution center for IP traffic, says Michael D. Toplisek, EarthLink’s executive vice president of sales and marketing.

“Our robust, new San Jose data center provides EarthLink with a West Coast presence that leverages a state-of-the-art, integrated computing and storage platform with power, space and cooling capacity that will scale to support current and future IT service demands," Toplisek added.

As part of the company’s strategy to expand the reach and serve more customers, EarthLink also opened a new sales office and announced expansion to its employee base.

The additional workforce will support the company’s need to fulfill the business demand for its highly secure, comprehensive IT solutions including cloud hosting, Cloud Workspace, managed security, colocation, Cloud Server Backup and application solutions in the Silicon Valley, the company said.

To create awareness about cloud to San Jose businesses, EarthLink organized a seminar, titled “Join the Cloud Evolution,” at the Silicon Valley Capital Club that showcased how services such asCloud Hosting, Dedicated Exchange and Data Center Firewalls help businesses improve cost structures and mitigate risk. The seminar was attended by experts from Cisco (News - Alert) and NetApp.

EarthLink recently partnered with ANXeBusiness to launch a new PCI (News - Alert) Compliance Solutions service for retailers. The solution provides the validation tools needed to assist retailers in meeting their Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) requirements.
