SecureKey Introduces Hardware-based Protection for MasterPass

Recently, SecureKey Technologies Inc. introduced hardware-based protection for the MasterPass digital commerce platform. MasterPass, the latest digital commerce platform from MasterCard (News - Alert), has now been incorporated with SecureKey’s briidge.net DNA security software and briidge.net Enterprise validation service.

MasterPass wallet holders and merchants can now carry out more secure and expedient Web-based payment transactions.

In a statement, Edward Olebe, group head, MasterPass, MasterCard said, “MasterPass is designed to enable consumers to shop more confidently and safely and has been made even better with the help of SecureKey authentication services and technology using Intel (News - Alert) IPT. We are delighted that consumers using the MasterPass service can now benefit from the enhanced security and convenience they receive on Intel IPT-enabled devices, such as Ultrabooks.”

A straightforward, tamper-proof technique for safeguarding consumer and business data from threats and deception is delivered by Intel IPT. All Intel-inspired Ultrabook devices and PCs with the newest Intel Core processors are equipped with Intel IPT, which facilitates hardware-based, two-factor validation solutions for websites and business log-ins. SecureKey has entered into a strategic partnership with Intel in order to offer powerful validation solutions for several vertical market applications.

George Thangadurai, general manager, PC Client Services Division, Intel Corporation said, “Intel is excited to be working with MasterCard and SecureKey to bring a new level of hardware-based authentication capabilities based on Intel IPT to MasterPass-connected wallets. MasterPass is a perfect example of how Intel IPT working with briidge.net DNA can provide a hardware root of trust that can be utilized by multi-factor authentication solutions for identity protection and transaction verification.”

Customers can now leverage the hardware-based protection advantages by connecting any Intel IPT-enabled device to MasterPass-connected wallets, as briidge.net DNA technology is incorporated in all Intel IPT-enabled devices. Ordinary notebooks, tablets and mobile devices are thus transformed into trusted validation “terminals” by SecureKey’s briidge.net DNA.

According to Charles Walton, CEO of SecureKey, the organization in collaboration with MasterCard and Intel has been able to develop a suitable, perceptive and user-friendly hardware-based authentication solution for MasterPass. The Web-based shopping experience is therefore much safer overall.
