Tenable Network Security Lands VMware as Next Major Customer

Tenable Network Security announced that its Nessus ProfessionalFeed scanner, which automatically scans networks for vulnerabilities, is now available for VMware customers.

Tenable Network Security is no small player when it comes to network security. The security firm currently serves over 17,000 organizations, from U.S. Department of Defense and various government agencies to major corporate clients. The firm has reliably proven itself at finding vulnerabilities before they hit, conduct perimeter security and provide real-time monitoring of virtual infrastructure. 

“Nessus ProfessionalFeed ensures that companies operating on virtualized data center infrastructures do not have to compromise on security,” said Vatsal Sonecha, Tenable business development vice president. “The addition of Nessus ProfessionalFeed to already well-established VMware solutions fills a critical industry need, providing trusted vulnerability management to companies worldwide.”

And that's good news for the large number of data centers using VMware. The Nessus ProfessionalFeed — which comes in one ($1,500), two ($2,700) and three ($3,900) year subscriptions — can help clients to identify possible vulnerabilities in a virtual environments like vSphere ESX, vSphere ESXi and vCenter Servers. The service can also detect malware, botnets, verify patches and properly apply them and schedule scans on a regular basis.

And it appears Tenable's reputation is paying off. The firm, founded in 2002, received a $50 million investment from Accel, a major international venture capital firm.
