Tektronix, TM Forum Unveil Best Practices for Big Data

Tektronix Communications and the TM Forum (News - Alert) will offer an all-inclusive portfolio of the latest best practices, especially for the telecoms industry. The group of best practices will also be available for deployment of big data analytics.

The TM Forum project group, jointly-headed by Tektronix (News - Alert) Communication, was formed in January 2013 to launch a report comprising of novel best practices and guidelines. The report aimed to assist carriers globally in defining and refining their big data analytics solutions.

The report, a component of TM Forum's recent release of Frameworx 13, comprises of two key units. The roadmap and processes operators needed to tackle big data analytics are included in the Reference Model. A comprehensive portfolio of business use cases, demonstrating an assortment of methods for extracting value from big data, are included in the second unit.

In a statement, Manuel Stopnicki, CTO of Tektronix Communications (News - Alert), said, "Big Data has been something of an industry buzzword now for several years. However, the new best practices in Frameworx 13 and the report we have been working on with TM Forum provide comprehensive guidance for all operators on how to define from scratch, or refine their existing big data initiatives. Relying heavily on our end-to-end, 4-dimensional approach, we have ensured that the report covers all areas of an operator’s business that will be able to deliver real-life value from big data, and if implemented correctly, with a view to monetization and optimization, we believe that the value of big data can be immense."

According to Jing Shang, representative for China Mobile (News - Alert), the organization is pleased with Tektronix Communications’ work in assisting carriers derive value from Big Data.  The organization is already leveraging the advantages of best practices, latest processes and workflows.
