Riverbed Granite Solutions to Get EMC E-Lab Qualification in 2Q 2013

Application performance monitoring company Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology has revealed that it is seeking EMC E-Lab qualification with EMC VNX for Riverbed Granite storage delivery solutions.

EMC E-Lab has already qualified Riverbed Granite 1.0 with EMC (News - Alert) VMAX in 2012.

Riverbed Granite storage delivery solutions consolidate edge data to the secure data center, while delivering local performance and data access to branch offices. The benefit of this approach is improved security, data protection and performance. Total cost of ownership of branch infrastructure is reduced.

"The combination of Riverbed Granite with EMC VNX or VMAX solutions enable IT to pull branch data from the edge and manage it centrally while lowering costs, reducing risk and improving security, without sacrificing the performance needed by employees in edge locations," said John Martin, senior vice president and general manager, Storage Delivery Business Unit, Riverbed, in a statement.

The cooperation between Riverbed and EMC will help improve data security, backup, and management of branch servers and data and enables organizations to instantly recover, in the case that disaster strikes, says Pete Conway, SVP/COO, Enterprise Storage Division, EMC.

Riverbed expects to receive EMC E-Lab qualification with EMC VNX in the second quarter of 2013.

A major trend in today’s enterprise scenario is that IT is in the data center while business is at the edge. As a result, a critical part to making business grow is a reliable, low cost, consistent and agile infrastructure, says Villars, vice president, Datacenter and Cloud, IDC (News - Alert).

"One of the ways to achieve this and address the problem is with solutions like Riverbed Granite, EMC VMAX and EMC VNX storage solutions that enable organizations to improve the use of IT at a lower cost, reduce IT staff and third party costs, cut deployment and upgrade time and dramatically improve data protection and retention practices," Villars added.

At the EMC World 2013 Conference taking place May 6-9, Riverbed is showcasing how Granite extends the benefits of the data center to global branch office, and how Steelhead wide area network (WAN) optimization solutions enable enterprises to more cost-effectively manage large-scale data center-to-data center replication.

Recently, Riverbed unveiled the Riverbed OPNET AppInternals Xpert 8.5, a unified application performance management (APM (News - Alert)) suite that provides deep visibility into the performance of complex, multi-tier applications.
