Stoneware's webRDP HTML5 Gateway Now Available

Stoneware, a unified cloud computing company, recently revealed that its webRDP HTML5 Gateway (News - Alert) is now available. The new webRDP HTML5 Gateway is software designed to connect remote end users with Windows desktops and Microsoft Terminal Servers using just a Web browser. The product is considered a "gateway" because it translates the HTML5 code within the Web browser to Microsoft's (News - Alert) Remote Desktop Protocol.

“This release of webRDP marks a significant step in the evolution toward a web-everything world,” said Rick German, CEO of Stoneware, Inc., in a statement. “The ability to deliver access to Windows applications through an HTML5 gateway opens up new possibilities for customers seeking to move to the web, but that still need to provide access to legacy applications.”

webRDP costs $1,495 per server, and includes three support calls and one year of product updates. An OEM version of webRDP that can be customized, branded and embedded in a custom remote access solution is also available.

Stoneware recently announced the immediate availability of LanSchool 7.7.3. The release contains more than 300 enhancements and fixes, many of which were voted on by the LanSchool community of teachers and techs.

The ability for teachers to interact with students while other students have their screens blanked was the most requested of the new features. However, the ability for teachers to be alerted if a student tries to get around LanSchool by disabling their network was a close second. LanSchool's audio capabilities are easier to access and have been significantly improved to use less network bandwidth.

LanSchool 7.7.3 is a free upgrade for customers under a current maintenance agreement. LanSchool educational pricing starts at $20 per device. Site licenses, volume and educational discounts are available. LanSchool was also named a finalist for the 2013 SIIA Education CODiE Awards for Best Classroom Management Solution.
