Clipboard Now Performing File Uploads

Web-clipping service Clipboard has recently added file uploads and note creation capabilities to its menu. According to the company’s blog, this addition was prompted by numerous requests from its subscribers and now every user will receive one GB of free storage space with an individual file upload size limit of 25MB.

To access File Uploads on Clipboard go to the new menu, then select upload and then drag-and-drop the selected file(s) within your clips or boards page. Next, the upload window will appear and files will automatically start uploading.

Uploaded files can be view via Clipboard’s website, except files from the Clipboard iOS application which are not yet accessible.Clipboard supports a variety of online viewing file formats, including Microsoft (News - Alert) Word document (.doc), PDF and PowerPoint (slide deck).

Founder Gary Flake launched Clipboard in January 2011, focusing on serving as an outlet where users could clip Web content, organize it, and even share it with others. This current update allows users to import local content, images, and text files, as well as create rich text notes online.

As these new features are additions to Clipboard’s major redesign, it’s apparent that the company is attempting to find its place among its competitors, Evernote (News - Alert), OneNote, and SpringPad ( similar services that provide both Web clipping and content creation), or becoming a public image-sharing platform like Pinterest, a content sharing service that allows members to "pin" images, videos and other objects to their pinboard.                         

But for now at least, the newly added features will provide a more complete and personal experience for Clipboard users.
