GSS and WDT Launch ALERT FM App in Aruba

Global Security Systems, LLC, experts in the aggregation of emergency information through multiple contact paths, and Weather Decision Technologies, Inc., a major player in weather app development, have launched Google Android (News - Alert) version of the ALERT FM App in the country of Aruba as part of a first responder notification system.

The companies worked jointly to provide the Aruban government with a complete end-to-end App-based communication system.

"WDT's mobile development skills and our message origination capabilities allowed us to expand our joint technology into the Caribbean," said Matthew Straeb, executive vice president GSS, in a statement. "We are able to provide the Aruban government with a solution to communicate with first responders via Android-based smartphones.”

Global Security Systems is a systems integrator, service provider and manufacturer of the ALERT FM, Alert Studio and GSSNet satellite data delivery system.

GSS has participated in the development of IPAWS based systems, is a member of the Commercial Mobile Alert Service systems committee, and is actively involved with several EAS and CAP committees. The GSS nationwide GSSNet satellite data delivery system for emergency alerts currently is in operation on over 400 radio stations in 17 states and Canada; is growing daily; and includes the ability to generate and deliver CAP messages.

Officials with Global Security Systems said that the ALERT FM App has been provided to 75 first responders for download on to their Samsung (News - Alert) GT-S5690L smartphones. Emergency officials were also trained to send a message using the Alert Studio message origination software.

"The ALERT FM App-based notification system will provide a much needed communication tool for our fire, police, and other emergency personnel," said Jaime Donata, director of the Aruban crisis management office. "It will be a great benefit to our nation.”
