Continuent, Inc. has unveiled an enhanced version of Tungsten Replicator for instantly extracting data from Oracle (News
- Alert) EE and SE servers, like RAC.
Tungsten Replicator is 100 percent open source and is ideal for MySQL and Oracle. The latest version is offered under a GPL V2 license and can be downloaded here for no extra cost. Tungsten Replicator is one of the major components of Continuent Tungsten, a high-tech clustering offering from Continuent, Inc.
Tungsten Replicator 2.1 delivers high performance data replication features, like parallel, multi-master and heterogeneous replication. It also features low-impact, instantaneous replication, with up to five-times throughput over native MySQL and over 100 times decrease in slave lag. In addition, Tungsten Replicator enables multi-master operation across sites using an assortment of replication topologies like bi-directional, all-masters, stars, and snowflakes.
With Tungsten Replicator, data is loaded instantaneously from Oracle and MySQL to high-performance data warehouses like Vertica and InfiniDB. Data can also be published to NoSQL deployments like MongoDB from Oracle and MySQL. The service facilitates versatile filtering and examination of transactions during replication, as well.
In a statement, Kurt Guisti, senior database administrator, Carfax said, “We are using Tungsten Replicator to replicate data from our Oracle RAC databases to edge MySQL databases. A single Oracle table can be routed to multiple MySQL master/slave setups, each supporting separate applications. Tungsten Replicator is allowing us to seamlessly and economically transition to a more diverse database portfolio.”
Continuent offers consulting services to generate replication filters and implement intricate replication topologies in production. The company also provides 24-hour comprehensive technical support for Tungsten Replicator.
