New Systems Management Tool for Railroads Improves Protection and Administration

Lilee Systems has announced that together with Alstom, a new, innovative portfolio of interoperable Positive Train Control or “PTC” solutions especially for rail lines. The Interoperable Train Control or “ITC” offering leverages Lilee Systems’ proficiency in sophisticated communications systems while making use of Alstom’s competence in rail signaling technologies.

Together the companies can deliver a unique Wayside Interface Unit with Systems Management Agent or “SMA (News - Alert)” functionality for the industry.

Alstom's established microWIU Wayside Interface Unit is the basis for the combined PTC solution. The two basic concerns, namely protection and smart administration of railroad's wayside signaling and train control equipment, are resolved thanks to this latest offering.

Steve Zwart, director, PTC Activity at Alstom said, "Lilee Systems and Alstom have well-established track records for solving customers' signaling and train control challenges. Recognizing a need to help those same customers simplify and accelerate their PTC deployments, we are now building on our complementary core competencies and together providing a suite of tools that make the management of PTC wayside assets secure, reliable and easy to deploy."

The offering supplements the microWIU with Systems Management (News - Alert) Agent Service and SMG competences. Rail system operators can track, configure, control, protect and enhance their installed train control equipment and resources with the help of a completely-incorporated communications network.

By December 31, 2015, freight and passenger rail operators need to address the federal mandate for complete implementation of Positive Train Control technology. With this latest partnership, rail operators can leverage the wayside train control technology solutions to meet this need.
